Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On September 29, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 400 block of Lombard Street, in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with a subject matching the suspect description. The subject fled on foot into a residence in the 500 block of East 4th Street, then police took 36-year-old Jecavis Stanford into custody without further incident in the rear of that location. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
Stanford has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Burglary (First Degree)
- Aggravated Menacing
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $76,000 cash-only bail.
