Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 23-29, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Friday, 09-27-24, at approximately midnight, on the 7200 block of Mission Street, a known suspect took a backpack from the victim and fled. On Tuesday, 10-01-24, the suspect, a 31-year-old San Bruno resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and an additional offense.

On Saturday, 09-28-24, at approximately 3:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree on the 6200 block of Mission Street on a report of a verbal altercation. An employee stated that the suspect entered the store and concealed merchandise in his bags. The employee and a coworker told the suspect to leave. The suspect began yelling, so the employee took out her phone and called 911. While the employee was speaking with dispatch, the suspect grabbed her hand. The employee believed the suspect was trying to take her phone to prevent her from calling the police. Upon the officers’ arrival, the suspect, a 46-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

Residential Burglaries

There was one attempted residential burglary during the past week.

On Tuesday, 09-24-24, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a suspect attempted to enter a residence on the 900 block of Martin Trail. The resident stated that someone rang her doorbell several times. After a minute, the resident went to the front door and looked through the peephole. The resident observed a white sedan parked in front of the residence.  After several seconds, the resident exited the front door and saw a white Acura sedan with dark window tint, as well as scratches and damage on the right side of the rear bumper. The vehicle fled south toward Carter Street. The resident then checked her surveillance camera and saw an unknown suspect carrying a hammer, who pushed the camera upwards and then approached her front door. The resident believes the suspect heard her inside the home and ran back to the white Acura sedan, driving away toward Carter Street. The resident described the suspect as a male wearing a black hoodie with a red skull.

Commercial Burglaries

There was one commercial burglary and one attempted commercial burglary during the past week.

On Tuesday, 09-24-24, at approximately 3:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to Money Express Center #3 on Mission Street on a report of a burglary. Three suspects forced entry into the business, took cash from drawers, and attempted to open a safe. The suspects were unable to gain access to the safe and fled in a dark colored sedan. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult wearing a black sweater, black pants, a ski mask, and black gloves with white markings on the top. The second suspect was described as a Black male adult wearing a black sweater, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves with white markings on the top. The third suspect was described as a Black male adult wearing a multi-colored sweater, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves with shades of orange running along the fingers. This investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, 09-29-24, at approximately 4:45 a.m., an officer was patrolling near the intersection of Mission Street and Bismark Street when his attention was drawn to three suspects who appeared to be tampering with the doors of the Gulf gas station on Mission Street. The suspects saw the patrol vehicle and fled in a white Honda Accord. Upon inspecting the front door lock, it was found to be out of place and broken. The first suspect was described as a male adult wearing a black sweater, black pants, a ski mask, and black gloves with white markings on the top. The second suspect was described as a Black male adult wearing a black sweater, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves with white markings on the top. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
