Wilmington Police arrest two men on gun charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun charges.
On October 3, at approximately 1:36 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the area of East 12th Street and Northeast Boulevard when they observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located in the area of East 12th Street and I-495, where two occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took 22-year-old Dawone Stewart, and 23-year-old Dvonte Williams into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
Stewart has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Disregarding a Police Officers Signal
- Resisting Arrest
Williams has been charged with the following offense:
- Resisting Arrest
