Hudson County Community Resource Caseworkers to offer weekly office hours in partnership with City of Hoboken
Hudson County’s Department of Family Services and Reintegration, in partnership with the City of Hoboken, will be offering weekly office hours in Hoboken starting on Monday, Oct. 7. Residents can visit the Multi-Service Center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday for assistance from County caseworkers on a range of social services.
The program, hosted with the City’s Office of Constituent Services and the Division of Senior Services, will provide residents with support for services such as:
- Social Services and case management
- SNAP benefits
- Temporary rental assistance
- Emergency housing
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Residents seeking assistance are encouraged to bring any relevant paperwork, along with an ID if available. No appointment is necessary.
In 2023, Mayor Bhalla hired two full-time social workers, within the Office of Constituent Services, dedicated to assisting residents in need. The social workers operate on the first floor of City Hall and out in the field meeting with the community including senior citizens and those experiencing homelessness, to connect them with vital resources and services. In 2023, the social workers assisted 385 members of the community, provided 83 referrals for housing, assisted nine community members with immigration services, and 133 with identification services.
Residents in need of assistance can contact the City's social workers, Lori Hetzel and Bianca Hoffer, at (201) 420- 2000 Ext. 1312 or Ext. 1314.
REMINDER: Attend the community meeting on Madison Street infrastructure upgrades on Oct. 7
A community meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the community room at ResilienCity Park to discuss Phase II of the Madison Street Infrastructure Project in partnership with the North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA).
The project will upgrade sewers, roadways, curbs, and sidewalks near Ninth and Madison Streets. These upgrades will replace inlets, elevate roadways, and direct rainfall into the sewer system to mitigate rainfall flooding. The project will also include water main upgrades as part of Hoboken's ongoing Water Main Replacement Project.
Construction is expected to begin this month and be completed by June 2025.
