Update #1 – Suspect Charged (Investigation – 800 Block of North Van Buren Street):

Wilmington Police have charged a suspect in connection with today’s shooting incident.

Responding officers took 28-year-old Serlina Wing into custody at the scene, and she has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Resisting Arrest
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $361,000 cash-only bail.

Original Release (October 4):

Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at approximately 7:13 a.m., in the 800 block of North Van Buren Street.

Police located a 31-year-old female gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

This incident has been determined to have been domestic in nature. Police have recovered a firearm and a suspect was taken into custody at the scene, and charges are pending.

This incident remains under investigation and further details will be released when possible.
