Old Fort Man Charged with Murder
Captain Shanon Smith, with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, charged 34-year-old Justin Tyler Bartlett of Old Fort, with murder. He was given no bond.
Around 2 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, deputies and paramedics responded to Twin Lakes Mobile Home Park off Twin Lakes Road in Old Fort, due to a report of a gunshot wound victim. The suspect and male victim were roommates and got into an altercation which led to the shooting. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
