Executive Order 24-214
Governor Ron DeSantis has issued Executive Order 24-214 for 35 counties, including Broward County. Residents are advised to secure loose objects around their property and limit outdoor activities as strong winds are expected to begin on Wednesday evening.
City Operations Update
As Hurricane Milton approaches, the City of Dania Beach remains focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. Our dedicated City staff will conduct rapid impact assessments of all parks and playgrounds to keep public amenities safe and accessible. The Public Services team is continuously monitoring conditions and stands ready to mobilize resources as needed.
Water Management Measures
The South Florida Water Management District has proactively lowered water levels in canals and other bodies of water in anticipation of the heavy rainfall associated with Hurricane Milton.
Solid Waste Services
There are no changes to solid waste services, including curbside garbage collection and bulk pickup, at this time. However, residents scheduled for bulk services from Tuesday, October 8, through Saturday, October 12, should note that bulk items may need to be removed from curbs if conditions worsen. Please avoid starting new landscaping projects, as tree limbs and debris could become hazardous during the storm.
Construction Sites
All construction sites should take the following precautions:
- Secure or remove construction debris and materials to avoid safety hazards.
- Store materials inside a protected structure or securely fasten them to prevent becoming airborne.
- Lock down cranes and other heavy equipment to ensure stability and safety during the storm.
- Remove commercial containers and portable toilets from construction sites or mechanically secure them.
- Ensure piles of dirt, sand, and stone are positioned away from canals, right-of-way’s, and storm drains.
Taking these measures will help protect both the construction sites and the surrounding community from potential damage during the storm.
