Hurricane Milton Update #02
Hurricane Milton, a dangerous Category 5 hurricane, continues to move east across the Gulf of Mexico. Milton is expected to make landfall in the Tampa Bay/Sarasota area on Wednesday evening as a major hurricane.
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH & FLOOD WATCH ARE IN EFFECT
Locally, here are the FIVE BIG THINGS you need to know.
1.) Sandbags will be distributed Tuesday, October 8th, from 8AM to 6PM at Memorial Park, 17380 NW US HWY 441. Limited staff will be on-site to assist in distribution.
2.) 4-8 inches of rain is expected, with higher amounts possible in some locations.
3.) Prepare for power outages. Be sure you have enough food and water to last several days.
4.) Travel on I-75 should be avoided, as a significant increase in traffic from evacuees is expected.
5.) Alachua County Schools are CLOSED Wednesday and Thursday.
