INCIDENT: PC 245(a)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: Apple Valley Smoke Shop, 20410 State Highway 18, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Ashley Marie Shields, 31-year-old female of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 32-year-old male of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: Deputies from Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to a report of an assault in the parking lot of Apple Valley Smoke Shop on State Highway 18 on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Deputy G. Guzman responded and contacted the alleged victim who reported she had been assaulted. Deputy Guzman investigated the incident and contacted the alleged suspect, a 32-year-old male. Deputy Guzman was assisted by Deputy C. Wingard in collecting evidence and investigating the allegations. The investigation revealed the victim who had reported the assault was found to be the actual assailant and the male subject the victim. Both parties sustained minor injuries. The female suspect was seen by medical personnel prior to being transported to jail and the victim refused medical attention.
Ashley Maire Shields was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into High Desert Detention Center. On Monday, October 7, 2024, the Victorville District Attorney’s office filed felony charges against Shields for PC 245(a)(1), assault with a deadly weapon.
