Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in locating Hakeem R. Smith, 33, of Newark who is wanted for questioning about a shooting in which he was a victim on September 27, 2024.
Police officers responded to a Shot Spotter detection at approximately 4:47 p.m. in the 100 block of Shephard Avenue. When they arrived, officers found two 9 mm shell casings. During the investigation, Smith was identified as the victim. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 205 pounds.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
