Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on gun charges.
On October 4, at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 300 block of East 35th Street when they observed 44-year-old Cleve Wright, who was known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Police attempted to make contact with Wright, who fled into a residence in that block, then was taken into custody without further incident. Following a search of that residence, police recovered a loaded 10mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen, and 507 grams of marijuana.
Wright has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $95,000 cash-only bail.
