Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 30-October 6, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies and one attempted robbery during the past week.

On Thursday, 10-03-24, at approximately 2:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to Lucky Supermarket on Mission Street on a report of a battery. The lead cashier stated that he observed the suspect enter the store, grab cupcakes, and walk past the cash registers without paying. The suspect pushed past the lead cashier, punched a security employee, and left the store. The lead cashier was able to detain the suspect outside, and cans of corned beef valued at approximately $56 were recovered. The suspect, a 24-year-old San Pablo resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

On Thursday, 10-03-24, at approximately 2:56 p.m., on the 300 block of Deanne Lane, a victim stated that he was approached by two suspects in a dark-colored sedan. The victim stated that the first suspect, who remained in the vehicle, asked how much he paid in rent and requested his wallet, claiming she wanted to put money into it for him. The victim handed over his wallet, and the first suspect removed approximately $100. When the victim asked for his wallet back, the suspect said she was going to give him money but instead took additional money from the wallet. The victim reported that a total of $260 was stolen from his wallet. The first suspect then asked the victim to kiss her on the cheek. When the victim refused, the second suspect said, “Go ahead and give her a kiss.” The victim stated that the suspects made him give the first suspect a kiss. Afterward, they said “Goodbye” and dropped what appeared to be a gold chain. The victim described the first suspect as a heavyset female with light complexion and light-colored hair. The second suspect was described as a short, slender male with dark hair and a beard. This investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, 10-06-24, at approximately 4:34 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the CVS on Pierce Street on a report of a person concealing items. A CVS employee stated that he observed the suspect conceal beer, walk past the cash registers, and head toward the exit without paying. When the employee tried to stop the suspect, the suspect flailed his arms, hitting the employee. As the suspect exited the store, an officer detained him. Three cans of beer and two packs of white socks, valued at approximately $32, were recovered. The suspect, a 32-year-old Pittsburg resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and an outstanding warrant.

On Friday, 10-04-24, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., a victim was out on a walk when a white vehicle approached from behind and parked at the intersection of Winchester Street and Acton Street. There were two male suspects in the front seats and a female suspect in the back. As the victim walked closer to the vehicle, the female suspect in the rear seat reached out and grabbed the victim’s left arm attempting to pull him into the vehicle and steal his wallet. The suspect was unsuccessful in her attempt to pull the victim into the vehicle and take his wallet. The three suspects then fled northbound on Winchester Street. The victim described all three suspects as Middle Eastern. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
