The Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority (JCMUA) will extend the working hours of its Watermain Interconnect Project next week. Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 15, work will take place on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., until approximately Nov. 4. The project, which aims to upgrade infrastructure that supplies clean drinking water to Hoboken and Jersey City, requires the closure of Henderson Street/Marin Boulevard from 18th Street in Jersey City to Observer Highway in Hoboken. Traffic will be detoured onto Jersey Avenue and Grove Street.
Police Officers will be on site to assist with detours, traffic control, and pedestrian safety. Detour and variable messaging signs will also be in place ahead of the closures. Drivers are advised to leave extra time entering or exiting Hoboken via southern routes during the JCMUA work hours.
Residents are reminded this JCMUA project is being executed concurrently with the Rebuild by Design – Hudson River project in northern Hoboken in which a portion of 15th Street is closed to through traffic 24/7.
