A Yom Kippur Message from Mayor Tom Giordano
My Dear Friends & Neighbors:
Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year. It is the Day of Atonement after the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. It is a holy day marked by fasting, sacrifice and charity. The period is to be spent in prayer and asking for forgiveness for transgressions.
According to tradition, it is on Yom Kippur that God decides each person’s fate, so Jews are encouraged to make amends and ask forgiveness for sins committed during the past year.
The Holiday is observed with a 25-Hour fast and a special religious service.
On behalf of your Councilmembers and Myself, may all your prayers be heard and may the Lord bless you. May Yom Kippur open the door for everything that is good and pleasant for you and your family. May you have a meaningful Fast.
Mayor Tom Giordano
