Subject Stabbed During a Dispute
On October 11th at 6:56 am, Officers were dispatched to a subject who had just been stabbed. Officers arrived to find a male subject suffering from a single non-life-threatening stab wound.
Officers spoke to the victim and his friend and learned the following. At approximately 6:40 am, they were walking along the Lynch Creek Trail just west Highway 101 when they were approached by a male subject. A dispute ensued with the unknown male subject arming himself with a weapon and stabbing the victim. The victim and his friend were able to flee the area and seek medical attention.
Officers extensively canvassed the area of the Lynch Creek Trail and were unfortunately unable to locate the suspect. We are thankful the injuries to the victim were not life threatening.
Over the past week, the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department have responded to several fires in/around the area of the Lynch Creek Trail with at least two of those fires being deemed suspicious. It is unknown if the fires and assault are connected; however, the police department continues to investigate each matter and will provide increased patrols of the area.
