Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 10/14/2024 at approximately 0825 hours, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash at the intersection of Hwy M 51 and Hwy M 152, Silver Creek Township, Cass County, Michigan. Investigation shows that a 44 -year-old, South Haven, MI resident, Amanda Sleigh was traveling south bound on Hwy M 51, when a vehicle driven by 58-year-old, Christopher Mohney, a Dowagiac, MI resident, failed to stop at the stop sign at Hwy M 152., This caused Sleigh to crash into the rear-end of Mohney vehicle. Mohney’s passenger Jennifer Denton, 51-year-old, Dowagiac MI, resident was transported to Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital by ambulance for her injuries sustained in the crash. Sleigh was also transported to Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital for her injuries sustained in this crash. Seat belts were worn by both subjects. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. Assisting in this crash was Sister Lakes Fire, SMCAS Ambulance and VBEMS Ambulance.
