The Great ShakeOut - Today at 10:17 AM
The Great ShakeOut – Thursday, October 17th at 10:17 AM
Join the City of Bainbridge Island today at 10:17 a.m. for the Great ShakeOut. This year, over 1.4 million Washingtonians are participating in the world’s largest earthquake drill.
At 10:17 a.m. this morning - "drop, cover, and hold on" for one minute, practicing good earthquake safety.
Here are some additional steps you can take to get prepared:
- If you have a child in school, pack up a small emergency kit that they can keep in their backpack.
- Check that you have updated your emergency contacts with your child’s school, daycare, after school programs, etc.
- Take a moment to take the "Are you Bainbridge Prepared" household assessment and gauge your level of preparedness! https://www.bainbridgewa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/17849/Household-Readiness-Assessment-2023-FILLABLE?bidId=
- Rotate out any expiring food and water from your emergency supplies and replace any items you may have used this year.
- Connect with your Map Your Neighborhood group or sign up to participate if you are not currently “mapped” https://www.bainbridgewa.gov/MYN
