The Great ShakeOut – Thursday, October 17th at 10:17 AM

Join the City of Bainbridge Island today at 10:17 a.m. for the Great ShakeOut. This year, over 1.4 million Washingtonians are participating in the world’s largest earthquake drill.

At 10:17 a.m. this morning - "drop, cover, and hold on" for one minute, practicing good earthquake safety.

Here are some additional steps you can take to get prepared:

  1. If you have a child in school, pack up a small emergency kit that they can keep in their backpack.
  2. Check that you have updated your emergency contacts with your child’s school, daycare, after school programs, etc.
  3. Take a moment to take the "Are you Bainbridge Prepared" household assessment and gauge your level of preparedness! https://www.bainbridgewa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/17849/Household-Readiness-Assessment-2023-FILLABLE?bidId=
  4. Rotate out any expiring food and water from your emergency supplies and replace any items you may have used this year.
  5. Connect with your Map Your Neighborhood group or sign up to participate if you are not currently “mapped” https://www.bainbridgewa.gov/MYN
