South Brunswick To Honor Local Veteran Robert Spahr With Street Sign Dedication Ceremony
This Saturday, October 19th, South Brunswick Township will hold a Veteran Street Sign Dedication Ceremony which will take place at 11:00 AM at the intersection of Ridge Road and Green Ridge Lane in Monmouth Junction, to honor local Veteran Robert E. Spahr. The Township holds these dedications, recognizing local veterans for their military service, in the Spring and Fall.
Robert E. Spahr enlisted into the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War on August 14, 1963. He attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was assigned the position of Military Cook, achieving the Rank of Private. Known as “Butch”, he was a lifetime volunteer with the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and the Monmouth Junction Fire Department.
Spahr served until his Honorable Discharge on February 4, 1969 with outstanding leadership and courage receiving the SS Rifle Badge.
