Narrative:
On 10/10/2024, a suspect of multiple burglaries from agricultural areas was arrested during an in-progress burglary at a business in the 3800 block of Doris Avenue in unincorporated Oxnard.
On 10/10/2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, deputies from the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to a burglary alarm at the location on Doris Avenue in the unincorporated area of Oxnard. Deputies responded quickly and located (S) Erick Lee inside the business. Lee attempted to flee from the deputies but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
The deputies were able to identify multiple areas in the building where Lee had kicked doors and damaged locks to gain access to rooms inside the business. Deputies were also able to identify items Lee had stolen during the burglary with the assistance of a responsible party that arrived in response to the burglary alarm. Lee was arrested for burglary as well as vandalism, resisting arrest, and drug related charges.
Deputies and detectives continued the investigation the following morning and located burglary tools Lee used during the burglary.  The burglary alarm as well as the response from the responsible party were instrumental in catching Lee during the commission of the burglary and Lee’s subsequent arrest.
Lee was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the violations.  He remains in custody with bail set at $10,000.
There has been a significant rise in burglaries and thefts from Ventura County agricultural areas since the beginning of 2024. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office encourages businesses to deter would be thieves by installing alarms, cameras, and lights at their facilities. We also recommend businesses secure high value items and/or keep them away from easily accessible areas.
Everyone in Ventura County is encouraged to keep track of serial numbers for expensive items, including bicycles. The Sheriff’s Office has investigators and teams regularly searching for stolen property. These teams can use the serial numbers to return stolen property to its rightful owner as well as prosecute thieves.
