...ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR HAINES AND SKAGWAY... .Northerly cold air aloft and at the surface and ample moisture aloft will lead to faster accumulating snow tonight and into Friday morning. Accumulating snow occurring now will slow into the afternoon and increase late tonight. Highest confidence is Klondike Highway near White Pass; however higher wind speeds could hinder snow accumulation. Lowest certainty is near Haines and Haines Highway, as the greatest available moisture may not reach inland.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Municipality of Skagway and Haines Borough and Klukwan.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM AKDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest amounts will be near White Pass. Highest rates between early morning and midday on Friday. Higher amounts near Haines & Haines Highway are possible.
