City of Hoboken announces expanded fall art programs for children and teens

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the Hoboken Division of Cultural Affairs today announced the launch of new art programs for youth and teens this fall. The programs, available to children aged 1-16, will run from Nov. 4 through Dec. 19 at two locations: the Multi-Service Center Senior Room at 124 Grand St. and the ResilienCity Park Community Room at 12th and Adams Streets.

The new programming builds upon the City’s popular Art in the Park program for toddlers and offers expanded classes that are designed to nurture creativity and artistic expression.

Art programs that will be offered this fall include:

  • Art in the Park for toddlers ages 1-4. This indoor/outdoor program includes art, crafts, storytime, music, and more.
  • My Mini Museum for kids ages 5-7. This program is an art exploration club using artists as inspiration to create their own artwork.
  • Fashion and Upcycling for ages 10-16. Participants will learn how to create their own designs using upcycled clothing. Classes for special needs children are also available.
  • Dance for ages 6-13. Dancers will learn the basics of hip-hop while developing rhythm, coordination, and individual style.
  • Theater Games for ages 5-13. The program will offer an introduction to improvisation and theater games to build confidence, communication, teamwork, and play.
  • Sewing and Design for ages 6-9. The class will offer an introduction to the basics of hand and machine sewing and design.

“We are proud to provide new opportunities for our youth to explore their creativity,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “By expanding our arts programming, we are investing in Hoboken’s future artists and ensuring that children have access to creative outlets that foster their growth, learning, and self-expression.”

Registration for the programs will open on Monday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. on RecDesk. Class sizes are limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note, programs that do not have the minimum number of participants will be cancelled. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible to register for the classes free of charge. All program fees are available on RecDesk.
