Red Flag Warning today from 11PM Thu - 5PM Sat

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following community warnings and alerts due to observed fire weather conditions impacting the region:

Red Flag Warning

  • In effect from 11PM tonight (Thursday) 17th October until 5PM Saturday 19th October for most of the Bay Area, including the East Bay Hills and the SF Bay Shoreline (see attached infographic for details).
  • What does this mean?
    • Critical fire weather conditions are likely to happpen or imminent due to low humidity, strong winds and dry fuels.
    • Practice wildfire safety; avoid burning outdoors.
    • Have an emergency plan in case a fire starts near you and/or you'd need to evacuate.
Wind Advisory
  • In effect from 11PM tonight (Thursday) 17th October until 11PM Friday 18th October.
  • Expect 20-30 mph offshore winds with gusts up to 50 mph in lower elevations (under 900 ft).
  • Isolated gusts up to 69 mph in higher elevations (900-2500 ft).
  • What does this mean?
    • Store or secure outdoor loose items 
    • Look out for fallen/falling trees, powerlines or debris.
    • Maintain a safe driving distance from high-profile vehicles
