There is an increased risk of fire spread through this afternoon.
⚠️ Elevated Risk for the Spread of Wildfires - Friday, Oct. 18 US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly and US National Weather Service New York NY have issued a Special Weather Statement for the elevated risk for the spread of wildfires throughout New Jersey today. ❗️SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: There is an increased risk of fire spread through this afternoon. Relative humidity values are expected to fall to around 20% to 25% across much of the area. This will be combined with north to northeast winds near 10 to 15 mph, with sporadic gusts of 18 to 20 mph possible at times, temperatures in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees, and abundant sunshine. These conditions will support the spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control. Additionally, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect for all coverage areas. STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS 🚫🔥 All fires in wooded areas will be prohibited unless in an elevated prepared fireplace, elevated charcoal grill or stove using electricity or a liquid or gas fuel. ⚠️ An elevated prepared fireplace must meet the following criteria: ➡️ constructed of steel, stone, brick or concrete ➡️ elevated at least one foot above the ground ➡️ surrounded by a mineral soil radius no less than ten feet 🔥 Current New Jersey Fire Danger: https://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/fire/infotools/conditions-restrictions.html 🔗 Read the National Weather Service's Special Weather Statement: https://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=PHI&wwa=special%20weather%20statement
