Register for the Hoboken Renewable Energy Program info session

Residents are invited to learn more about the Hoboken Renewable Energy Program in which residents can get even more of their electricity from clean energy sources while saving money. The City will host a virtual information session on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and an in-person information session at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St. on Monday, Oct. 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The City’s consultant will provide details on the program, which has saved residents over $800,000 since its launch, including upcoming updates, and answer some frequently asked questions.

The updated program features a new provider, IDT Energy, and optional offering for 100 percent renewable electricity at a lower price than basic electric supply from PSE&G. This Green Program Rate is optional, residents must choose to receive the cost savings and climate mitigation benefits of 100 percent renewable electricity. Doing so will support the City’s goal of net-zero energy by 2030, as established in Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan.

The sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish. To register for the virtual info session, click HERE.

Additional information about the updated program will be mailed to residents this month. This mailer will include details of the updated program with IDT Energy, including the 100 percent renewable and minimum renewable options, as well as the new 20 percent base option for renewable energy, frequently asked questions, and methods you can use to opt out of the program, should you wish not to participate. All mail will clearly state “Hoboken Renewable Energy Program” on it, with a return address from "City of Hoboken c/o Concord Energy Services."

PSE&G will continue to distribute residents’ electricity and will remain their utility, but residents will buy their electricity supply through the Hoboken Renewable Energy Program.

The program is an opt-out program as required by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as stated in  N.J.A.C. 14:4-6.  Please note, residents can opt-out of the program at any time and there are no fees associated with opting out of the program.

For updated program information, questions, or concerns, please call the program energy consultants at 866-688-5197 option 3 or visit the City’s Renewable Energy Program website at www.hobokennj.gov/renewableenergy.
