October 19, 2024 - Morning update on the Jennings Creek Fire, NJ State Park/Palisades Interstate Park properties. The fire is under Unified Command of the following agencies: NJ Forest Fire Service New York DEC Palisades Interstate Park Commission Preliminary information - Based on last evening's rough mapping, the area affected is 20% NJ State Park property and 80% Palisades Interstate Park property (NY) in the Jennings Hollow. Initial mapping estimates the fire to be 7 acres. Containment lines are in place. Crews have returned to the area this morning to improve containment lines and mitigate any hazards. There are no structures threatened. Residents in Awosting, UGL and Ringwood should be aware that smoke will continue to be present in the area. Expect further update from Incident Command later today.
