Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 05:15PM

SVRABQ The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northeastern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico... West Central Quay County in east central New Mexico... Southeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 515 PM MDT.

* At 428 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles east of Newkirk, or 27 miles west of Tucumcari, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include... Montoya, Newkirk, Conchas and Conchas Lake State Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 294 and 322. State Road 104 between Mile Markers 65 and 101.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GUADALUPE, NM ... QUAY, NM ... SAN MIGUEL, NM

Instructions:

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing widespread damaging winds and large hail. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Accumulations of small hail on roads can create very slick and hazardous driving conditions.
