Two Suspects Arrested after Breaking Vehicle Window and Shooting at the Victim in Supermarket Parking Lot

LOCATION: Lucerne Valley Market, 32946 State Highway 18, Lucerne Valley
SUSPECT: Jaime Esparza, 44 years of age, resident of Lucerne Valley
Amanda Miller, 41 years of age, resident of Lucerne Valley
SUMMARY: On Friday, October 18, 2024, at 4:52 p.m., deputies responded to the report of an attempted murder in the Lucerne Valley Market parking lot.
Through investigation, Deputy K. Konior learned the adult male victim was in the parking lot of the market when Amanda Miller and Jaime Esparza, who are known to the victim, arrived. Amanda Miller broke out the windows of the victim’s truck with a hammer. Jaime Esparza allegedly threatened the victim and brandished a handgun. The victim feared for his safety and quickly reversed his vehicle, crashing into the pickup truck the suspects were driving. Esparza fired one round at the victim’s vehicle as the victim drove away.
Jaime Esparza was arrested for attempted murder. Amanda Miller was arrested for vandalism over $400.00. Both suspects were booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
