VIGILANT WITNESS AVERTS BURGLARY
On Sunday, October 20, 2024, at approximately 1:00 AM, The Simi Valley Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the 2200 block of Tapo St. The witness observed four suspects wearing dark clothing and masks inside a closed business. The witness immediately called 911 and further stated the suspects were now attempting to load a safe into a vehicle. When the suspects spotted the witness, the suspects dropped the safe and fled the area in the vehicle.
The vehicle was described as a dark grey Nissan hatchback with its license plate covered. Shortly after the call, SVPD units located the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The suspects lead officers on a pursuit into the City of Los Angeles. The pursuit was terminated when the suspect vehicle reached high speeds and determined to be reckless.
The safe was recovered with all currency accounted for and the suspects were thwarted from stealing the money.
