Attention Helmetta Residents –

Helmetta Water Department would like to advise its residents of hydrant flushing to be done from Monday, October 28th until Friday, November 1st. The hours of flushing will be done from 10 AM until 2PM as well as 10 PM until 2 AM. We strongly urge you to not use water during these times for drinking, cooking, showering, washing of clothes, etc. You may experience low pressure or no pressure at all during flushing. It is also highly recommended to flush your pipes by running cold water for a few minutes after flushing has been completed, removing any filters or aerators if used. Flushing a hydrant pulls water through Helmetta’s water mains at such a velocity to clean pipes and remove any sediment that might build up in pipes. It also is helps us maintain the Boroughs fire hydrants to ensure proper fire protection.
