INCIDENT: Obstructing/Resisting an Officer
LOCATION: San Bernardino Avenue & Linden Avenue, Unincorporated Bloomington
VICTIM: Three San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies
SUSPECT: Emmanuel Williams, a 35-year-old Male Resident of Fontana
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 20, 2024, at about 2:17 p.m., Fontana deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a residence in the 18000 block of San Bernardino Avenue, unincorporated Bloomington. At about the same time, a second call, reporting a male, later identified as Emmanuel Williams, was acting erratically in traffic lanes.
The first deputy located Williams in traffic near the intersection of San Bernardino Avenue and Linden Avenue. Williams ran, evaded arrest, and narrowly missed being struck by vehicles while running in the roadway. Deputies attempted to generate compliance, but Williams refused to comply and continued to evade arrest. Deputies chased after him and, with the assistance of an arriving Fontana Police Officer, took Williams into custody after a struggle. As a result of the struggle, two deputies suffered minor injuries.
After his arrest, Williams bit a third deputy who suffered minor injuries as a result. Williams was treated at a local hospital for pre-existing medical conditions and was later booked into the West Valley Detention Center for obstructing/resisting an officer. All three deputies involved were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. They were later released.
