INCIDENT: Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Outer State Highway 18 / Pohez Rd, Apple Valley, CA

SUMMARY: On Monday, October 21, 2024, at approximately 10:16 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash. The crash occurred on Outer Highway 18 South, east of Pohez Road, in the town of Apple Valley. Through investigation, deputies determined the unknown vehicle was eastbound on Outer Highway 18 South, and the pedestrian walked eastbound on the south side of the roadway. The unknown vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are investigating. Outer Highway 18 South between Pohez Road and Tao Road was closed for about 5 hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence.
The identity of the deceased is being witheld, pending notification of next of kin.
