Police Seek Help Identifying Robbery Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the male pictured below in connection with a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
At approximately 6:25 p.m., a man sitting inside his vehicle, parked in the 400 block of Washington Street, was robbed by a male who opened the car’s passenger door and took two cell phones and the victim’s wallet before fleeing on foot, headed northbound on Washington Street.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as approximately 5’9” tall with a slim build, having a medium brown complexion, and facial hair of either a goatee or full beard. The suspect’s hair was styled in shoulder-length braids and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray Puma sweatpants with white stripes on the side of the legs, black and white Nike high-top sneakers, and a blue jacket with yellow on the neck, wrist, and waist areas. The suspect’s jacket also has yellow lettering on the chest area.
