The City of Aztec has learned that there is a new scam where a caller tells residents that they are behind on their utility bills and that if they don't pay a specific amount immediately, that the City of Aztec will turn off their utilities.
The City of Aztec Utility Billing Office does not call and request payment for delinquent accounts. The office contacts utility customers through mail and/or a notice will be hung on their door for the customer to contact in person:
