Burglaries and Thefts
The Leonia Police Department is investigating the following burglary and thefts that were reported today.
Between 9:30pm on 10/22/24 and 6:00am today, there were 2 thefts of catalytic converters and one possible attempted theft. The incidents occurred on the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue, 100 block of Oakdene Avenue and the 100 block of Ames Avenue.
Between 11:30pm on 10/22/24 and 8:30am today, a vehicle was stolen from a Lakeview Avenue parking lot west of Grand Avenue.
Today at 12:25pm, a diversion burglary took place on Grand Avenue near the Englewood border. 3 white males with Irish accents told the owner of the residence that they were doing tree work for the neighbor. While the resident was distracted, one of the suspects entered the residence and committed a theft.
Today between 10:00am and 1:10pm, a residential burglary and theft occurred on the 400 block of Birch Lane.
The amount of burglaries and thefts reported today is extremely unusual for our town. We are sharing the above information to remind residents to please report suspicious activity immediately by calling Leonia Police Department at (201) 944-0800 or 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. Residents should not allow strangers into your home. If someone claims to need access to your home and you are unsure of their identity or the credentials they present, please call us for assistance. We are also asking residents to check their home cameras during the above time frames and locations.
