Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of October 14-20, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
  
 
Robberies
 
There were no robberies during the past week.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were two residential burglaries during the past week.
 
On Friday, 10-18-24, at approximately 6:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Southgate Avenue on a report of a residential burglary. The victim stated that a suspect entered his residence, took an item, and left. The victim followed the suspect northbound on Saint Francis Boulevard. Officers located the suspect on Saint Francis Boulevard and Casa Avenue, along with approximately $1,100 in stolen items. After the victim identified the suspect, a 37-year-old Santa Rosa resident, the suspect was arrested and booked into jail for burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
On Sunday, 10-20-24, at approximately 1:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Poncetta Drive on a report of a resident requesting the dispersal of an unknown subject. The reporting party stated that she saw an unknown suspect attempting to open sliding glass doors. The suspect successfully opened one of the doors and entered an apartment. The victim heard noises from her bedroom, went out to the living room, and saw the suspect standing there. The victim told the suspect she was going to call the police. The suspect then left through the front door. Later, the officers located the suspect on Park Plaza Drive. The suspect was found in possession of three debit cards that did not belong to her and a counterfeit $20 bill. The suspect, a 30-year-old Modesto resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary, theft or misappropriation of lost property, possession of counterfeit money, and two outstanding warrants.

 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were no commercial burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were no vehicle burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were three stolen vehicles during the past week. One vehicle was recovered.
 

  • 200 block of Belhaven Avenue—a theft of a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 10-15-24 and 6:45 a.m. on 10-16-24. **Recovered by DCPD on 10-16-24.
 
  • 300 block of San Diego Avenue—a theft of a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. Occurred on 10-16-24 between 3:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
 
  • Santa Barbara Avenue and Vista Grande Avenue—a theft of a 2013 Lexus GS350. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 10-19-24 and 5:41 p.m. on 10-20-24.
 
 
Miscellaneous
 
  • There were 139 cases taken.
 
  • There were 15 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 7 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 8 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 8 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 2 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 5 narcotics-related cases taken.
 
 
Community Events/Information
 
Make a Difference Day
 
The City will be hosting its annual free recycling event for Make a Difference Day at the City Hall main parking lot (333 90th Street) on Saturday, October 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., as well as citywide volunteer cleanups in parks and neighborhoods. This event will be in a drive-through format for Daly City residents; proof of residency is required, such as a driver’s license and/or recent utility bill. Free services include secure document shredding, mattress recycling, e-waste drop-off, and used tire take back. Dia de los Muertos Celebration
 
The Daly City Arts and Culture Commission presents its first annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration at City Hall (333 90th Street) on Saturday, October 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be altars, live music, vendors, dance, face painting, and crafts. DCPLA Art & Lit Fest
 
The Daly City Public Library Associates (DCPLA) is hosting their annual Art & Lit Fest on Saturday, November 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Serramonte Center (3 Serramonte Center). Free Compost Giveaway Event
 
The City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host a free compost giveaway event at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from Wednesday, November 20 through Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. The event is weather permitting and will be canceled in case of rain. Have you signed up to receive these alerts?
