ALERT PINELLAS: Disaster Assistance Deadlines, Latest Disaster Recovery Resources and Information

As Pinellas County residents and businesses recover from hurricanes Milton, Helene and Debby, many resources are available to help. Deadlines to apply for some these resources are approaching.

  • Crisis Cleanup - Registration hotline will close November 1 (registration available online afterward). Call (844) 965-1386 or visit crisiscleanup.org.
  • Operation Blue Roof (Free Temporary Tarps for Roof Damage) - Deadline to apply is November 5. Sign up online at BlueRoof.gov or by calling at 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258)
  • Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) - Applications will be accepted starting November 4. More information: https://www.usda.gov/media/press-releases/2024/10/21/usda-announces-approval-d-snap-florida-disaster-areas  
  • FEMA Individual Assistance Deadlines (Apply at DisasterAssistance.gov, using the FEMA app, or at 1-800-621-3362):
    • Debby: November 12
    • Hurricane Helene: November 27
    • Hurricane Milton: December 11
  • Disaster Unemployment Assistance - Deadlines (Submit a claim at FloridaJobs.org):  
    • Debby: November 18
    • Helene: December 2
    • Milton: December 10

Other Information (Debris, Contractors, Rental Legal Assistance, Business Assistance, Disaster Distress Helpline)

  • For the latest information on debris collection, visit pinellas.gov/debris.
    • Vegetative debris may be picked up at a different time than construction debris and household appliances. Crews will make more than one trip to ensure all the debris that can be reached is collected.
    • If you live in a municipality, contact your city or town about the availability of storm debris pickup.
    • Storm debris that is in bags and/or not separated will NOT be picked up.
    • Storm debris must be loose and separated by type: vegetative material, construction and demolition debris (doors, drywall) and household appliances.
    • Refrigerators MUST be empty.
    • The County is reaching out to HOAs and homeowners who live on private roads or gated communities to gain permission to pick up storm debris.
  • Make sure contractors you hire are licensed. Learn more at pinellas.gov/choosing-a-contractor.
    • If you suspect unlicensed construction activity is taking place and the work is actively in progress, submit your report by completing this form or call the Pinellas County Tipline at (727) 582-6767.
  • If you rent your home and it was destroyed through no fault of your own, you have the right to end your rental agreement and leave the property immediately, according to Chapter 83.63 of Florida Statues.
    • For more information about landlord-tenant legal issues related to hurricanes Milton, Helene or Debby, contact the Florida Disaster Legal Aid Helpline at 833-514-2940 or Bay Area Legal Services at (800) 625-2257.
  • A Small Business Administration (SBA) Business Recovery Center is available at the Pinellas County Economic Development office at The EpiCenter in Clearwater (13805 58th Street N., Suite 1-200, Clearwater FL 33760) from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. 
    • The SBA will offer assistance to business owners, homeowners and renters with completing disaster loan applications and will answer questions and provide information about resource partners.
    • Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) staff will also be available to offer assistance with applications for critical business recovery programs.
    • Appointments are not required and walk-in visits are welcome.
  • The Disaster Distress Helpline provides 24/7 toll-free, multilingual disaster crisis counseling for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters. Call or text 1-800-985-5990.
