Investigation – 2100 block of North Market Street:
Wilmington Police are investigating what has been determined to have been a fatal assault.
Police were notified about an assault that had occurred on October 20 at approximately 2:04 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Market Street. The victim, who has been identified as 60-year-old Edward Wiggins, was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on October 22.
The case was assigned to Detective Derek Haines of the Criminal Investigations Division, and the investigation continued in conjunction with the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences. On October 23, it was determined that the victim died as a result of the assault.
This incident remains under investigation and further details will be released when possible.
