Fairfield PD Will Host 2025 DEA Take Back Day, But the Community Can Still Dispose of Unneeded Prescription Medication
Are you looking for a way to SAFELY and RESPONSIBLY dispose of unneeded prescription medication?
Throughout the year, the DEA sponsors collection sites throughout the country where medications can be dropped off for proper disposal.
Tomorrow, October 26, is one of several National Prescription PrescriptionTake Back Days, and while Fairfield PD will not be hosting this one, we WILL host the one slated for April of 2025 (stay tuned for an announcement next year regarding a date).
Need to dispose of items in the meantime? Find a safe disposal location at www.DEATakeback.com or the DEA diversion site https://apps.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubdispsearch/spring/main?execution=e1s2
Additional disposal options and information may also be found at the following:
Walgreens: https://www.walgreens.com/topic/pharmacy/safe-medication-disposal.jsp
CVS Pharmacy: https://www.cvs.com/content/safer-communities-locate
NorthBay Medical Center: Has a sharps collection container at the emergency room entrance for needles, sharps, and lancets.
Kaiser Permanete: https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/support/dispose-unwanted-drugs
About the Take Back Initiative: Did you know that prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved to be abused or illegally sold, or that drugs flushed down toilets contaminate the water supply? The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
