INCIDENT: Lethal Force Encounter
PC 245 (c) – Assault on Deputy
LOCATION: Mall Boulevard and Petaluma Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Unidentified Male
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, at about 3:15 p.m., a deputy in Victorville responded to the Victorville Mall to assist security with an uncooperative male subject. When the deputy approached the male subject to detain him, the subject failed to comply and fled on foot. The subject stopped, brandished a knife toward the deputy and a lethal force encounter occurred. The subject was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division also responded and assumed the investigation. The deputy was not injured, and the investigation is ongoing. The male subject has not been positively identified and remains hospitalized.
