Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to an October 2 shooting incident following an investigation.
On October 2, at approximately 1:48 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 900 block of Vandever Avenue in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 20-year-old male gunshot victim, and a 21-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Michael Hayman of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Hayman identified 20-year-old Khalir Thomas as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On October 26, members of the Uniformed Services Division located Thomas in the 2100 block of Jessup Street and took him into custody without incident.
Thomas has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $122,000 cash-only bail.
