10-28-24: UPDATE Debris Pickup Information
Debris pick up began on October 22 and will continue for approximately 3-4 months with three passes across all county roads. How You Can Prepare for Pickup: • Place Vegetative Debris in the Road Right of Way: Equipment must stay on paved roads and cannot reach items further back. • Any Size Accepted: Trees, stumps, and limbs of ANY size are accepted for pickup. • Keep it Clear of Structures: Avoid placing debris near utility meters, power poles, mailboxes, or blocking driveway views. What to Expect: • Progress So Far: 47 loads and over 1,700 cubic feet of debris removed in the first few days. • Processing Sites: Temporary spill sites are being secured for condensing debris before transport to the landfill. • Remember: The county landfill does NOT accept stumps, so placing stumps by the road is the only way to ensure removal. Missed This Week’s Pickup? Don’t Worry! The contractor will make three passes on each road. If you see the crews go by, you haven’t missed out—they’ll be back! Safety Guidelines: • Keep a safe distance from workers and equipment. • Drive cautiously when passing debris collection trucks on the road. For Volunteers and Contractors Assisting with Cleanup: Please place debris along public roadways for collection. This helps ensure efficient pickup and prevents fire hazards by keeping debris out of underbrush areas. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Rutherford County safe and clear!
