Investigation – 200 block of Lombard Street:
Wilmington Police are investigating what has been determined to have been a fatal assault.
On October 24 at approximately 9:07 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of Lombard Street in reference to an unresponsive female at that location. Upon arrival, officers located 49-year-old Lisa Fakis, who was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.
Police determined that Fakis had been assaulted during a robbery, and officers conducting an area search took a suspect – 31-year-old Laverne Sealey – into custody without incident.
Sealey was charged with Robbery (First Degree) and Assault (Second Degree). She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $140,000 cash-only bail.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Following an investigation in conjunction with the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, it was determined that Fakis died as a result of the assault.
Sealey remains in custody at this time, and investigators are working with the Delaware Department of Justice to upgrade her charges in connection with this incident.
