The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2024:
7:03 AM Officer Orozco investigated multiple vehicle burglaries reported near Cherry Street & Plummer Avenue. Loss included power tools.
9:09 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated vehicle theft near Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. The vehicle was left unlocked, resulting in the additional loss of keys.
12:23 PM CSO Lau investigated a bicycle theft reported near Cherry Street & Thornton Avenue.
4:55 PM CSO Lau investigated a package theft reported near Sycamore Street & Graham Avenue.
5:59 PM CSO Lau investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle at Cherry Street & Dairy Avenue. Reported loss included sunglasses and shoes.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2024:
9:15 AM CSO Lau responded to a vehicle theft reported near Leone Street & Dairy Avenue.
11:08 AM Officer Orozco investigated a hit and run vehicle collision involving a stolen vehicle from a nearby city.
12:04 PM Officer Williams located a vehicle without license plates near Blackwood Drive & Dupont Avenue. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from a neighboring agency and was recovered.
12:42 PM Officer Schaffer responded to a reported theft from an unlocked vehicle on Newpark Mall Road. Reported losses included miscellaneous clothing and personal items.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2024:
6:56 AM Officers responded to multiple vehicle burglaries throughout the city. Vehicle windows or rear cargo areas were accessed by forced entry, resulting in the loss of various power and industrial tools.
9:38 AM Officer Dale investigated an attempted vehicle burglary near Newark Boulevard & Dumbarton Court. The vehicle window was shattered along with tampering to the ignition column.
10:37 AM Officer Lor was dispatched to Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard for the report of a stolen vehicle in the area. The vehicle was located in the parking lot and was recovered.
11:30 AM Officer Dale was on routine patrol and performed a pedestrian stop near Balentine Drive & Mowry School Road. The pedestrian was a 43-year-old male on probation. He was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:30 PM Officer Berlanga conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Boulevard & South Magazine Road. The driver, a 29-year-old male, was arrested for multiple warrants. He was released on scene with a citation.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2024:
12:43 AM Officer Berlanga responded to a battery report near Thornton Avenue & Spruce Street. A 20-year-old female was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:33 AM Officers were dispatched to the area of Cedar Boulevard & Joaquin Murieta Avenue for the report of a person brandishing a knife.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2024:
12:33 AM Officer Dale responded to the report of a wanted vehicle in the area of Thornton Avenue & Sycamore Street. The driver, a 30-year-old male, was on searchable probation. He was released on scene and the vehicle was impounded.
8:22 AM Officer Medina investigated two window smash vehicle burglaries near Jarvis Avenue & Dumbarton Court. Both vehicles were rummaged through, with paperwork taken.
3:05 PM CSO Mora responded to a theft reported near Cedar Boulevard & Saint Isabel Avenue. A vehicle battery charger was reported taken.
7:37 PM Officer Kim investigated a theft reported on Newpark Mall Road. A 34-year-old male was arrested for shoplifting and was released on scene with a citation.
7:59 PM Officer Williams recovered a stolen vehicle near Fair Avenue & Newark Boulevard.
10:46 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Gateway Boulevard & Jarvis Avenue. The vehicle’s rear cover was forced open resulting in a loss of power tools.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2024:
12:02 AM CSO Mora investigated a license plate theft occurring near Carter Avenue & Sycamore Street.
12:45 AM CSO Mora investigated a report of tools that were taken from a vehicle on Newpark Mall Road. The tools were left unsecured in the rear of the vehicle.
5:26 AM Officer Lara investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Central Avenue & Willow Street. Loss is currently unknown.
8:05 AM Officer Leath investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & North Magazine Road. No property was reported to be taken.
11:15 AM Officer Dale investigated a license plate theft near Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard.
4:52 PM Officer Lomeli was dispatched to a theft reported near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard. Reported losses included multiple clothing and household articles.
11:19 PM Officers responded to an active disturbance on Central Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. A 30-year-old female was arrested for domestic violence, battery, obstructing a peace officer, and for an outstanding warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2024:
12:08 AM Officer Stevenson responded to Musick Avenue & Cedar Boulevard on the report of arson. A 48-year-old male was arrested for narcotics and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:53 AM Officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary near Cedar Boulevard & Smith Avenue.
11:31 AM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle theft reported near Jarvis Avenue & Spruce Street. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency. Additional loss included vehicle documents left in the glovebox.
11:49 AM Officer Lomeli was dispatched to a commercial burglary reported near Mowry School Road & Cedar Boulevard. Loss included jewelry and miscellaneous office equipment.
5:08 PM CSO Vuong recovered a stolen vehicle near Mowry Avenue & Rockrose Drive.
8:48 PM Officer Kim responded to a commercial burglary reported near Cedar Boulevard & Timber Street. A 38-year-old male and 40-year-old female were both arrested for burglary and possession of narcotics. They were both booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:23 PM Officer Swadener investigated a vandalism of a window reported near Seawind Way & Hickory Street.
