INCIDENT: PC 187 - Murder
LOCATION: Victorville Galleria Mall, 14560 Palmdale Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Harold Phillips, 34-years-old, Resident of Victorville
VICTIM(S): Guy Taylor, 51-years-old, Resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:21 p.m., deputies in Victorville responded to the Victorville Galleria Mall for a report of shots fired inside the mall. Deputies arrived and discovered a male subject, identified as Guy Taylor, had been shot. Deputies attempted lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived, however, Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation.
Through investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Harold Phillips, Jr., and learned there was a physical altercation between Phillips and Taylor when the shooting occurred. Phillips was not located, and an arrest warrant for murder was issued.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the United States Marshals Office located Phillips in San Jose. Phillips was arrested for his warrant without incident and booked in at the Santa Clara County Jail. Phillips was later transported to the West Valley Detention Center where he remains in custody without bail.
