Vegetation fire: Binford Rd./Rush Creek area forward progress stopped
At approximately 12:45 PM today, a vegetation fire was reported on the Northside of the Rush Creek Preserve in Novato on the right side near the wildlife refuge across the marsh. Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and called for additional resources. The PG&E - Marin County Fire partnership Helicopter located at Gnoss Field was on scene within minutes to support. Firefighters aggressive response successfully stopped forward progress by 1:20 PM.
As of 2:30, the fire is approximately 75% contained, covering an area of 6 acres. No structures were threatened at any point during the response. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews will remain on scene to monitor and mop up the area.

* 9 Engines
* 2 Helicopters
* 2 Air Tankers
* 1 Air Attack
Agencies response include Marin County Fire Department, Novato Fire Protection District, Novato Police Department, Central Marin Fire, Marin County Sheriff's Office and CALFIRE.
