Full Time Police Department Secretary
The Borough of Watchung is hiring a secretary to work in the service division of the Watchung Police Department. This is a full-time
position, Monday through Friday, with hours from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Expected Duties
Fulfilling discovery and OPRA requests, receiving reports from other agencies, entering summons data into CAD system, filing police
reports, fulfilling handicap placard applications, assisting the public in their requests for reports, answering phone calls and e-mails
for the service division, assisting with firearms permitting, handling departmental mail, ensuring compliance with Daniel’s Law, and
other secretarial related duties.
Minimum Requirements
21 years of age or older
Education: High School or GED equivalent
Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States.
Residency: Be a resident of New Jersey while serving in such a position.
Health: Be sound in body and of good health.
Language: Be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
Driver's License: Possess a current, valid driver's license at the time of application.
Character: Be of good moral character and not have been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
Must be proficient in typing, using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Familiarity with Police CAD software a plus
Previous public sector experience a plus
Fluency in other languages a plus
Salary & Benefits
Starting Salary Range $40,000-$48,000
Health benefits, PERS pension, vacation/time off package
