Advisory

Update Wildfire

The Voorhees Township Fire Department and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service will continue to monitor the 40 acres affected by the brush fire in the Sturbridge area that occurred on October 30. The fire will continue to smolder; however, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤-𝐨𝐫-𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. Although smoke may still be visible and its odor might linger for a few days until significant rainfall occurs, it is important to note that the smoke is drifting away from Voorhees.
Please remember that the statewide Stage 3 fire restrictions implemented by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are still in effect. These restrictions prohibit all outdoor fires unless they are contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, or electricity. Wood and charcoal fires are not allowed, and the use of kerosene or gas torches, as well as fireworks, is prohibited under this level of restriction.
