Grant Public Schools have released from Secure Mode and are now under normal operations. The threat investigation was unsubstantiated and all school buildings will release students as normal. For specific details about the threat investigation, please check for additional information from Grant Police Department. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
As a reminder, all Public Schools within Newaygo County utilize three security levels: Secure Mode, Hold, and Lockdown-Run, Hide, Fight.
Secure Mode is a term used to describe when it is safer to remain inside the building under locked exterior doors
· Security measures used for external threats such as criminal activity in the area, an unauthorized person on the grounds, a threat investigation, etc.
· All exterior doors are LOCKED
· No building entrance/exit
· No OUTSIDE activities
Hold is a term used to describe when it is safer to remain inside the building under locked exterior doors and locked classroom doors.
This security measure is used for internal threats such as a medical emergency, fight, threat of violence, etc.
- All exterior doors are LOCKED
- All interior doors are LOCKED
- No building entrance/exit
- No OUTSIDE activities
- No HALLWAY movement
- Routine business can continue as usual inside the classroom
- Staff and students are actively implementing Run-Hide-Fight during a Lockdown
- Access to the school will be secured
- Emergency alerts with instructions will be sent via Nixle
- Do not come to the school
- Do not call the school offices (staff will be focused on the situation)
- Do not contact students or staff via phone or social media
- Avoid posting on social media. The School and Public Safety Officials will share accurate information through Skyward and Nixle as soon as possible
- Make sure your contact information is up to date with the school so they can reach you in an emergency
- The school will let you know where to pick up your child as soon as it is safe
