The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from September 29th to October 5th.
September 29th
Driving Under the Influence / Unlicensed Driver - San Pablo Ave. / Hill St.
At 1:08 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, the driver was found to be unlicensed and under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober friend.
Stolen Vehicle - 10012 San Pablo Ave. (Pic-N-Pac Liquors):
At 8:08 PM, an officer reports two suspects stole the victim’s vehicle while the keys were still left in the ignition.
September 30th
Trespass - 900 Block of Liberty St.
At 12:48 AM, an officer reports the victim’s ex-significant other entered the victim’s residence through an open window. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Driving Under the Influence - Van Fleet Ave. / San Luis Ave.
While searching for the suspect in the above case, an officer located the suspect and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, the suspect was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle - 10400 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1:17 AM, officers responded to the area for a suspect shooting at vehicle. During the investigation, officers discovered the suspect and several victims were at a local bar when a verbal altercation ensued. All parties were asked to leave and went to a nearby parking lot where they continued their verbal altercation. As the victims got into their vehicles, the suspect shot at them using a firearm. There were no injuries reported after the investigation concluded. The suspect was arrested, and the case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.
Vandalism – 600 block of Lexington Ave.
At 8:17 AM, multiple victims reported their windows to their vehicles were shattered sometime overnight.
Stolen License Plate – 200 of El Cerrito Plaza:
At 11:14 AM, a victim reported their license plate was stolen.
Petty Theft - 6050 El Cerrito Plaza (Barnes & Noble):
At 6:55 PM, a victim reported their property was left at the business while shopping at another business. Upon return, the victim discovered a suspect had stolen their property.
October 1st
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave. / Bayview Ave.
At 7:52 AM, an officer located the victim’s stolen vehicle parked unoccupied. The owner of the vehicle was called and the vehicle was released to the owner on scene.
Financial Theft – 2600 block of Arlington Blvd.
At 1:14 PM, a victim reported that they were scammed out of their money over both the internet and phone.
Battery / Criminal Threats – 900 Block of Elm St.
At 9:08 PM, officers responded to a battery between roommates. During the altercations, one of the roommates threatened to kill the other. The report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / El Dorado St.
At 2:42 AM, officers responded to an injury accident involving two vehicles. The driver collided into a parked vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and released on a citation to the hospital.
October 2nd
Stolen Vehicle – 5300 block of School St.
At 9:11 AM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.
Grand Theft – 600 block of Ashbury Ave.
At 12:16 PM, the victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.
Warrant Arrest – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 7:47 PM, officers responded to a known shoplifter inside the business. Upon arrival, the officers were told that the subject had already left but was located nearby. A records search of the suspect found the subject had a warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Battery / Criminal Threats – San Pablo Ave. / El Dorado St.
At 6:42 PM, officers responded to a report of a battery and criminal threats. The report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review.
Drunk in Public / Probation Violation – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 8:50 PM, officers responded to a possible theft from the business. Upon arrival, officers located a highly intoxicated subject. A records check of the subject found the subject was also on active probation. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 3rd
Grand Theft – 1200 block of Liberty St.
At 9:11 AM, a victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle sometime last night.
Robbery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 9:28 AM, an employee reports two suspects stole alcohol from the store. When confronted by employees, one of the suspects struck the employee. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Hill St.
At 3:14 PM, an officer conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to have a warrant for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 4th
Battery - 11252 San Pablo Ave. (Antojitos Guatemaltecos):
At 6:18 PM, a victim reports a suspect hit the victim in the head with their elbow. The case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
Driving Under the Influence - 11821 San Pablo Ave. (McDonald’s):
At 10:31 PM, officers responded to the parking lot of the business for a report of a vehicle collision. While officers were responding, dispatch advised one of the drivers was yelling at other patrons and hitting their vehicles. Upon arrival, officers conducted a DUI investigation. During the investigation, officers found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released on a citation to a sober friend.
October 5th
Vandalism - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 6:14 PM, an officer reports a suspect threw a brick through the victim’s vehicle window. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
