Incident: Intoxicated Driver Arrested for Possession of Narcotics for Sale and DUI
Occurred Date : October 31st, 2024
Occurred Time: 5:53 PM
Location: N. McDowell Boulevard and E. Washington Street
Suspect: Cesar Godinez (20-year-old Sonoma resident)
On 10/31/2024 at approximately 5:53 PM, officers with the Petaluma Police Department were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of E. Washington Street and Sonoma Mountain Parkway. It was reported to PPD Dispatch that the driver was suspected of being DUI and was driving erratically.
A Petaluma officer located the vehicle and made contact with the driver in the parking lot of a nearby gas station at the intersection of N. McDowell Boulevard and E. Washington Street. The driver was identified as Cesar Godinez, a 20-year-old Sonoma resident.
Officers observed Godinez displaying objective signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers subsequently conducted a DUI investigation and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.
During a search of his vehicle a large amount of suspected Xanax, marijuana, cash, a ski mask, and a replica firearm were all located. The vehicle was later impounded from the scene.
Godinez was ultimately booked at the Sonoma County jail for the following charges:
23152(f) PC- DUI Drugs
166(a)(4) PC- Violation of a Court Order
11351 H&S- Possess Narcotics for Sale
11359(b) H&S- Possess Marijuana for Sale.
